Distance - Approx: 42 km

Ride Leader - Laurel Tucker

Thursday was a perfect day for a bike ride - clear blue sky and a warm winter's day with a light breeze. Mark Tucker (Laurel's eldest son), the BUG's newest member on the day, lead the ride to Redcliffe. Mark trains junior triathletes and had intimate knowledge of the route. The ride was mostly on bike tracks along the shores of Deception Bay with some deviations on local roads, and then bike tracks again from Scarborough to Recliffe. The coffee shop at Scarborough was undergoing renovations so the ride continued to Redcliffe for a greater selection of coffee shops.

There was plenty to see along the way including the yachts and boats in Scarborough Harbour.  A small group also detoured to have a look at the local aerodrome at Redcliffe.  One of the highlights was that there was something for everyone.  Small groups broke away to challenge themselves riding hard for a little then meeting up again with the tail enders to continue the journey.  At one point towards the end the break-away group thought they had lost the tail enders as the tail enders were faster than anticipated.

The return ride had a tail wind for a quick return to our starting point for a BYO lunch which Sandra provided the table cloth for.
